Project Zambia was put in contact with Airport Farm base by Sister Bernard,a Zambian nun who we have worked with for many years. Despite being a site of the Zambian National Service the Lt.Col. a man named Anthony Sapuleni had struggled to source funding for a medical centre to be built on the site. his attempts to retrieve funds for over two decades but work was slow but the ideas great. The base itself is surrounded by small villages who depend on it for employment, education and medical assistance.
Project Zambia forwarded the funds in 2010 to did the initial phase of work on the medical centre. Groups of volunteers aided the construction of the site and met with the volunteers of the ZNS. The medical centre has been operational since 2010 and now offers and pre and natal care for baby and mother. The clinic also offers other treatments and allows the ill to be treated with dignity and in hygienic conditions. |
